Annual summary 2024

Mayotte 6 May 2025

Economic conditions in Mayotte in 2024 were marked by multiple exogenous shocks and their direct and adverse effects on economic activity.

Roadblocks that occurred at the beginning of the year disrupted the island’s economic momentum, while Cyclone Chido, which struck at year-end, appears to have had a lasting impact on the territory’s economic fabric. All sectors of activity were affected. As a result, business confidence declined. The business climate indicator stood at 101.9 points, well below the trends observed over the past three years.

In this context, despite inflation remaining close to the European Central Bank’s 2% target, household consumption experienced an unprecedented downturn in Mayotte’s recent history.

At this stage, the outlook for 2025 is characterised by a very high degree of uncertainty.
