IEDOM carries out central banking missions on behalf of the Banque de France in the French overseas departments and collectivities (DCOM) where the euro is the official currency. The Institute plays a central role in the banking and monetary system of the eurozone DCOM.
The regulations governing banking activities in mainland France also apply in the eurozone DCOM. Some specific provisions are outlined in Book VII of the French Monetary and Financial Code, which covers the overseas regime.
