The Institut d’émission des départements d’outre-mer (IEDOM) is a subsidiary of the Banque de France and operates within the Eurosystem.
It ensures the territorial continuity of central banking functions on behalf of the Banque de France in the overseas departments and collectivities where the euro is the official currency: Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, Réunion, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (TAAF).
IEDOM is chaired by IAlexandre Gautier, who also serves as Director General of the Institut d’émission d’outre-mer (IEOM).
As part of this strategy, IEDOM manages the issuance and maintenance of banknotes and coins in circulation to ensure confidence in the euro.
IEDOM contributes to the financial stability mission performed by the Banque de France through the production of financial data and by acting locally on behalf of supervisory authorities.
IEDOM supports individuals and businesses in dealing with financial difficulties or matters relating to the business life cycle.
IEDOM also runs financial, budgetary and economic education programmes (EDUCFI) for various audiences, helping every French citizen acquire the knowledge necessary to make informed financial and economic decisions in daily life.
IEDOM plays a key role in observing, studying and analysing the economies of the overseas territories. It shares its expertise through publications, participation in local forums, and direct interaction with public and private decision-makers.
