Following a year in 2024 affected by a series of social and climate shocks, the economies of the overseas territories where IEDOM operates have returned to a growth trajectory in 2025. The business climate is improving and the majority of firms are reporting an overall increase in their activity. However, this recovery remains modest and household consumption, traditionally the driving force behind the economic dynamism of these economies, is lacklustre. Employment therefore remains stagnant and vulnerabilities persist.
Furthermore, rising international tensions and their impact on hydrocarbon prices are dampening short-term growth prospects and increasing the risks to price stability in the overseas territories. This upheaval once again emphasises the imperative for an energy transition in the overseas territories. The stakes are high, but the remarkable results already achieved in some territories demonstrate the overseas territories’ considerable capacity to rise to this challenge.
In this context of increased uncertainty, the Institut d’émission d’outre-mer (IEDOM) continues to fulfil its role in promoting the development of overseas economies. It contributes to the economic debate and supports decision-makers’ actions by producing analyses. It is also deeply committed to ensuring the availability and security of payment methods and to providing better support to economic actors in their financing needs, through company credit ratings, the management of personal debt, credit mediation and financial education for all audiences.
IEDOM in 2025 will have:
• 294 million banknotes issued at our counters;
• over 3,900 overindebtedness cases processed, a significant increase in volume;
• nearly 8,300 rated companies;
• nearly 4,600 people reached through our financial education initiatives;
• over 110 economic and conjunctural publications published.
This activity report outlines all the initiatives carried out in this regard by our teams based in Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, Réunion, Saint Barthélemy, Saint Martin, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and at IEDOM’s head office in Paris.
We hope you find it a useful and informative read!
